SCA Introduction to Coffee Class
DURATION: 8 HOURS
The Introduction to Coffee course is ideal for anyone new to specialty coffee. It charts coffee’s journey from its origins in Ethiopia to the major commodity that it is today. This course gives a general overview of the specialty coffee supply chain. It explores topics such as history and cultivation, variables that affect coffee quality, sensory analysis basics, roasting fundamentals, factors of coffee freshness, and brewing principles. In addition, learners will discuss the importance of water quality, cleanliness, and maintenance. This interactive course also includes a cupping, an industry-specific process for evaluating coffee through a sensory experience.
This class is an ideal place for students to begin their professional education and to narrow down or solidify their learning goals. It also fits for enthusiasts who want to learn more about the coffee world.

SCA Coffee Skills Diploma and Certification
Introduction to Coffee is worth 10 points toward the 100-point SCA Coffee Skills Diploma requirement. All SCA exam and certification fees are included in the cost of tickets. Exams and certification are optional for students who take classes recreationally.

During one hour break Bristot will provide lunch for the participants and Bristot coffee samples at the end of the class.
